LINKS
Slim (they/them) is a non-binary person of Fijian, Papua New Guinean, and Indian descent, living on Ngunnawal & Ngambri country since the age of 5.
They have lived with music and dance from a young age, learning violin from the age of 7, engaging with choirs and orchestras in Canberra, Wollongong (and briefly overseas), picking up a few other instruments and many friends along the way. Music, to Slim, means family, safety and knowledge-sharing.
Slim and friends started a “Singing with your Friends” group in September, where their ever-expanding circle gathers fortnightly on Saturday morning to learn, heal and express through rnb/soul music (singing and dancing involved, but not required). Holly, a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, is a fundamental part of this group, too, and is lovingly sharing her skills with the Canberra WOV choir for a few months.
New to the conducting side, but enjoying consolidating musical knowledge and helping to inform others, Slim is looking forward to sharing their musical experience (including lots of dad rock) and learning from new people, to create a safe, joyous and consistent singing space together.
